Training Centre

The RFBYC Training Centre is an accredited Discover Sailing centre under the auspices of Australian Sailing. Since its inception in 1996, RFBYC continues to be one of the leading "learn to sail" centres in the state.

We provide a welcoming environment and first class facilities and programs that are all inclusive and affordable. RFBYC promotes and encourages the sport of sailing for the enjoyment of members and the wider community regardless of age or ability. Participants over the age of 5 are welcome to join in our programs!

All of our courses involve both on-water and class room activities and are conducted by accredited instructors and assistants.  Our team of dedicated and passionate instructors support participants to reach their full potential. 

Our Training Centre conducts a wide variety of courses including:

  • Learn to Sail in dinghies and keelboats for adults and juniors
  • Recreational Skippers Ticket
  • National Power Boat Handling 
  • Safety Boat Operator
  • Volunteer training - mark laying, start boat and race management
  • Radio Operators Ticket
  • First Aid

Sailing is a fun, safe, accessible and affordable sport that welcomes participation from people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities.

There are many different ways to get started in sailing. Our Club provides boats and our  members are always looking for crew - you don't necessarily need to own a boat to enjoy sailing.
