RACE START

  • Friday 22 February 2019.
  • Warning signal at 5:25pm.
  • Boat start, area Fremantle (in the vicinity of Hall Bank Beacon and the waterspace off Port Beach).

  • must include PLB number for each person in the crew.
  • at least two persons with valid Safety & Sea Survival Course qualification.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION

SAFETY:

Category 3 plus. Please see the Race Notice in the ORWA Handbook and Amendment 1 to the Race Notice which include:

  • A permanently installed inboard engine (outboard engines will not be permitted).
  • Liferaft(s) complying to Australian Sailing Special Regulations (ASSR) 4.19 for Liferafts in Category 2 events and grab bag, ASSR 4.20 (recommended items).
  • An EPIRB for each liferaft to comply with ASSR 4.18.4.
  • At least one spare lifejacket, ASSR 5.01.1(f).
  • PLB's for every crew member must be registered with AMSA and the OA. 
  • At leat two crew must have a Safety and Sea Survival Course qualification.
  • Crew lists including PLB numbers for each person on board must be submitted by 9am on Wednesday 20 February. Click here to download the ORWA crew list template.
  • Check your beacon registration or register a beacon using the AMSA website here - https://www.beacons.amsa.gov.au/ It is appreciated that you will confirm your own beacon is registered. Please note that all PLB's will be checked prior to the race and registered for a special event alert with AMSA. 
  • Recommendation that a personal MOB AIS locator is carried by all competitors and we encourage the details to be lodged with the OA.

  • Tracker collection - from midday on Wednesday 20 February until 7pm on Thursday 21 February.
  • Welcome, race and weather briefing - Thursday 21 February 7pm at RFBYC (compulsory attendance for skipper and navigator from each yacht). 
  • 42nd Farrawa Cup Series Presentation Evening - Thursday 28 March 6:30pm at RFBYC. 

 

EARLY BIRD ENTRY PRIZE

Teams who entered by the early bird date are in the draw to WIN a personal AIS unit, valued at $399.  All crew names go in to the draw. 

  • Enter your yacht by the early entry deadline. 
  • Submit your crew list by the deadline. 
  • All crew names go in the lucky draw, crew must sail in the race to be eligible to win.
  • Prizes drawn at the Farrawa Cup Series Presentation Evening. 

(In line with ORWA supporting the use of personal AIS recovery units, a Kannard Marine Safelink R10 is being offered as an early bird lucky prize. The unit is designed to be fitted to a lifejacket. It is a personal AIS search and rescue locating device, it enables those on board a vessel with an AIS chart plotter to quickly and efficiently locate and retrieve a missing crew member.)
