RFBYC Sailing Institute

The RFBYC works on a mentor structure where information is shared and passed on to the next generation. On the water, the Youth Racing Squad and Match Racing Squad learn teamwork and communication skills on the BW8 keelboats while learning advanced fleet racing and match racing.
These youth sailors are very lucky to have a pool of talented coaches and mentors in their older peers many are highly skilled match racing sailors who have had success competing on the international match racing stage. They are excellent mentors for the next generation.

Adapting the training programme to suit the group, the Performance Squad participate in valuable Mentoring and Networking sessions with a group of well-regarded older members from RFBYC.

All RFBYC Sailing Institute sailors are involved in specialised and fun sessions such as learning to make sails, rigging and splicing and match racing regattas.

Summer Squad is a new and developing programme open to RFBYC members of all ages. Sailors will learn or advance their match racing skills and some may wish to aim for events both locally and interstate.
