2019 Heritage and Community Open Day

Saturday 11 May 10 am to 4pm

In partnership with The Grove, we will be hosting an Open Day to share the wonderful history of Keane's Point and show the grounds and activities of Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club.

We invite the local community and public to visit us. You do not need to be a sailor or a boat owner to enjoy the Club. Come along and meet us, be our guest for the day and see what a beautiful place and family friendly community we have here at RFBYC

A great opportunity to take a look and find out about the activities of Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club.

RFBYC member tour guides will host two heritage tours of the grounds, starting at 10:30am and again at 2pm.

  • Early history of Butler's Hump and "Cappoguin" house.
  • Beginning of the Freshwater Bay Boating Club at the foot of Irvine Street in 1896.
  • Later to become Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club on Keane's Point.
  • Tour of the grounds and history of the Clubhouse.

"This year’s festival will bring together an array of events across the nation from 18 April – 19 May 2019. Our theme this year is Connecting People, Places and the Past.

Events across Australia will be held at historic buildings, landmarks, shipwrecks and sacred sites. The festival will bring together communities from all walks of life to recognise and celebrate heritage and culture through ceremony, song and dance, performance art, art in various media and artefacts, talks on books and stories, and guided tours of towns, places and spaces.

The Australian Heritage Festival will bring to life all chapters of Australian culture and history, telling the stories of diverse and distinctive experiences that make up our communities."
