Sailing Considerations - Crane Use & On Water Behaviour

Crane Use

We have early indications that use of the cranes and the main wharf will come under increased pressure this year.

With this in mind it is important that all crane users behave in a considerate manner by ensuring the following simple rules are followed:

• Before lining up for a crane ensure your boat is rigged sufficiently and your crew is ready to leave as soon as the boat is in the water.
• If you need to continue to rig please leave the wharf under jib or paddle and tie up to a mooring to complete rigging
• Cooperate with others in getting trailers back to your boat park to keep the wharf clear
• Be courteous and respect others. Behave towards others as you would expect them to behave towards you.

On Water Behaviour

This year there has been a noticeable increase in reports of bad language and offensive behaviour aimed at fellow sailors. Two of these incidents lead to rather unpleasant protest hearings for all involved.

When you have cause to protest do so respectfully. By learning from hearings, knowledge is increased and the water and the Club are better places for all to share.

At the end of the day we go sailing for the fun and enjoyment and it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure we assist others in also enjoying our sport.

We ask all of you to take responsibility for your actions and those of your crew and treat others as you would expect them to treat you.

Your consideration of these very important matters is appreciated.
